Lasting Powers of Arrangement: protecting the decisions that matter most.
Choose people you trust today to make decisions about your health and finances on your behalf, should you ever lose the capacity to do so yourself. Our private client specialists at Blackstone Probate Law, led by Safia Iftikhar (SRA 812098), guide you through a Lasting Power of Attorney with care and precision. Independently recognised as a Legal 500 UK Leading Firm 2022, and featured by the BBC, Financial Times, Guardian and Times, we advise clients UK-wide from our Manchester and London offices. For a no-obligation initial discussion, please call 0330 808 0849.
A Lasting Power of Attorney lets you decide, while you still have full mental capacity, who should make decisions for you if one day you cannot. There are two types. One covers property and financial affairs - bills, bank accounts, selling a home, managing investments. The other covers health and care, including where you live, medical treatment and end-of-life wishes. We guide you through both, helping you work out which you need now, who to appoint, and how to build in the safeguards and instructions that reflect how you genuinely want decisions to be made on your behalf.
Without an LPA in place, family members cannot simply step in. They would need to apply to the Court of Protection for a deputyship - a process that is slower, more expensive and more intrusive, often at precisely the moment when prompt, clear decisions matter most. Putting an LPA in place early is one of the most practical steps you can take to protect your finances, your independence and the people who care for you.
Our private client team, led by Safia Iftikhar (SRA 812098), will draft your LPAs, act as your certificate provider where appropriate, and handle registration with the Office of the Public Guardian. Blackstone Solicitors is a Legal 500 UK Leading Firm 2022, independently recognised, and has been featured in the BBC, Financial Times, Guardian and Times. With offices in Manchester and London, we advise private clients across the UK. We are happy to talk things through first with no obligation - call 0330 808 0849 to arrange an initial discussion.

What our customers say
My mother's estate had a house, four bank accounts nobody could find and two siblings who were not speaking. It was dealt with in seven months and I did almost none of it.
I was told what would happen, when it would happen, and then it happened in that order. After a year of everything else going wrong, that mattered more than I can say.
The inheritance tax position was not what I had assumed. They found two reliefs I had never heard of and explained both in language I could follow.
